And just like that… another school year is about to begin.

In staffrooms and classrooms across the country, teachers are dusting off lesson plans, decorating bulletin boards, and greeting colleagues they haven’t seen since June. There’s a buzz in the air, a quiet anticipation.

Students, too, are getting ready. They’re either entering familiar hallways or stepping into a new school for the very first time. The crisp new notebooks, freshly sharpened pencils, and carefully chosen backpacks carry not just school supplies, but a mix of emotions: excitement, nervousness, curiosity, and sometimes even anxiety. Especially for those starting somewhere new, September can feel like standing on the edge of a big leap.

And yes, we’ll miss summer.

The sunshine, the slower mornings, the holidays, or even just long afternoons spent with friends. Let’s not forget the parents, many of whom continued working through the summer, quietly wishing they had just a little more time with their little ones before they grow up — all too fast.

September marks a new season.

A Personal Note

This September feels extra special for me.

My daughter begins her first day of primary school.  A moment I’ll carry with me forever. Watching her little hands grip her (Frozen) schoolbag and her brave smile as she takes her first steps into this new world fills me with pride… and just a few tears.

To my parents, who won’t get to see her every day but who hold her in their hearts, I know she carries your love with her.

To my students who recently received their exam results: I’m so proud of you. Your hard work, resilience, and growth are what this job is all about. Well done!

To my new and returning students this year: I can’t wait to begin. I’m excited to see what we’ll learn, build, and discover together.

Here’s to a new chapter.
